Hiking in Big White Ski Resort, BC, Canada

Big White is a ski resort around 60 kms east of Kelowna. It is located on the Big White mountain which is the highest summit in the Okanagan highland (which spreads over across the border into USA). Its the third largest ski resort in British Columbia after Whistler Blackcomb near Vancouver and Sun Peaks near Kamloops. The mountain summit is at 2310 m with a vertical drop of 777 m and is serviced by 16 lifts. It has around 2700 sq. km skiing area. The village is at an incredible 1700 m.

I had been here last winter on a work trip and was back there last month for a day hike with two of my colleagues from work. We did the Falcon Ridge and Rhonda Lake hikes. We started out around 10 am and were back by 2 pm. The views were spectacular esp. with the wild flowers in bloom. This was unlike the hikes near Kelowna which tend to quite dry and colorless.
